Fantastic Work at The CrossFit Winter Challenge

More to come on this but we had an awesome time this weekend in Victoria and I was so proud of everyone's performance in the three events. Final placing to come but here were a few highlights.
Kioks finishing 2nd in the second WOD for advance males and started the WOD with a 5:05 mile. I believe "B" won the intermediate class 2nd WOD. I finished 2nd in the first workout for advance males. There was many other great moments and all those involved please leave a comment with your thoughts on the weekend and if you would like to do stuff like this in the future (judging by the party we through down on Saturday night I think it will be a resounding yes). In honor of the great effort done yesterday I would like the gym to tackle one of these workouts tomorrow. If you competed this weekend and feel the urge to come in the gym, I will have seperate programming for you.

TECH:
Sumo Deadlift 5x3
WOD:
"CrossFit Winter Challenge WOD 2"
1 mile run *
30 box jumps
30 burpees
30 wallballs
30 GHD Situps
* Please bring warm running gear for the run. If you didn't bring any than you may row 1700 meters as a sub. I would prefer everyone to run however. Also I will take this time and say that it is your responsibility to bring outside weather gear to the gym each day if you see a run in programming.

  1. Great Trip! Had a blast, cannot wait for the next competition! I think we all accomplished a lot. I think as a group we pushed through mental and physical limits! Silly Car preventing the 5 minute mile. I loved the whole trip. I am proud to say I got my first Double unders. Proud of Annie's ring dips! All in all a great job. Highlight was really the team spirit. Thank you for the cheerleading! Props to Bombshell, Pej, Garth and Katie aka Animal for making the trip to cheer us all on.

  2. Chris, excellent work in the WODs on Saturday. I didn't get to see it (was extremely concerned with 135 OHS at the time!) but you killed that first workout and were already chilling with a drink by the time I finished. Looks like the rest of your crew did well too, great experience all round. If you guys are open over Christmas I'll have to stop in for a WOD when I'm in Vancouver!!

  7. Thanks hilarious. Garth said this morning that you know Robyn is going to be in here today working out right? I said, "you bet your ass she will".

For those really looking to perform well at events such as these, we will need to customize the programing a little bit to make sure we maximize our time and recovery.

Talk to me if you are wanting to do that. CrossFit Games sectional qualifying starts in Feb-Mar so no time to lose.

  10. Pie & Friends,

Great crew you had over in victoria this past weeknd! Was a total blast. Props to everyone at Taranis for putting together a very well run event.

Although the advanced workouts were a but much for me at times , I think I made up for it with my advanced drinkning and dancing afterwards.

Vics (or "VICE") Steakhouse as Chris likes to call it really set the pace of out after party!

Hope to see you all soon !

  11. Great to see you guys in action. You guys have some really solid athletes. I was at the track when Kioks ran the 5 minute mile - that was really impressive, definitely a highlight of the day for me. Hats off to you guys and I look forward to seeing you next year. Maybe I'll compete : )

  12. Thanks Steven. We had an awesome time and everyone loved the box there.

Hot Toddy, I was wondering what the hell you were talking about in your text last night about "Vice"....now I remember. We dominated that restaurant. I'm pretty sure that server messed up 95% of all food orders.

  13. Hey Guys! What a great weekend. It was great to see the team and the encouragment that you offered to each other! Thanks for throwing some cheers my way as well. I'm not sure how I thought I'd get through the weekend without Du's. I think dimples and I need a bet as to who can get them first....10 in a row :)
If you can send me some pictures from the day that would be appreciated as well.
Hope to train with you again soon. Time to head over the North Shore!
