Congrats to all the athletes that tried out for the CrossFit Lions team that will be competing at the CrossFit Games July 16-18. It was a great couple of days. I want to also apologize to all my members for organizing the tryouts during class times. I was not a good coach Friday and Saturday and I won't make that mistake again. Now onto the team....
CrossFit Lions will be represented by (in order of their placement) Ainsley, Annie and Robyn who will be joined by Christoph, Scott and Danimal. Its a great team which will give us a fantastic opportunity to do well in Cali. To be honest with you all the athletes that tried out for the team would have made great members of the team and I would have been happy with all of you. Its a really nice problem we have having so many killers in our little gym. I love it.

Thought Chris did a great job of multi-tasking Fri and Sat. Congrats to everyone who participated in the 4 workouts, those were bad ass.
ReplyDeleteOn another note I think we all need to do a far better job of keeping the Den much cleaner. Chris has provided us with an awesome space to train at and many of us spend the majority of our spare time there too.
- put the bumpers and DB`s back where you found them
-chalk your hands in the bucket
-wipe mats down and actually hang them up
-water bottles in the recycling
-keep the washroom tidy, there shouldn`t be pools of water and scattered wet paper towels all over the sink area.
Thank you

Quick note on the paleo gig - none of the athletes competing at the games should be attempting this. 4 weeks out is NOT the time to be dicking around with your diet. You can give it a shot when you come back from LA.
ReplyDeleteHummm Tanya, are you giving me an out!? Because Coconut milk in my coffee this morning tastes like crap and I am having serious second thoughts!!!
ReplyDeleteAnnie :)
Garth, well said on the cleanliness, we are are big kids here, we can clean up after ourselves.
Hey kids,
ReplyDeleteI'm down in LA right now. Weather is unreal and i can only imagine what it will be like in Mid July.
Congrats to all the people that did the tryouts, a hard two days for sure.
We might want to start training in garbage bags to get ready for the heat.
Anyways keep on keeping on

Hey Annie... It's not an "out" per se. If you feel your diet could be improved upon going into the games, sure, clean it up a bit. BUT if you've been eating dairy and oatmeal and peanut butter and performing well with that don't screw with it now. There is usually a period where performance suffers and 4 weeks out is not the time to experience this. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tanya, I committing to a 7 days trial. I will be monitoring myself. But I should be able to go without peanut butter for a week and drink my coffee black. Who knows I may feel awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnnie :)
Monkey, so jealous that you are in LA.
Switch the PB for almond or sunbutter (sunflower seeds)- you need to replace the fat somehow.
ReplyDeleteTanya will you be in today ? Im hitting 430 class
ReplyDeleteRobyn
I'll be at the 6:30 - work willing ;)
ReplyDeleteInteresting update_ I've been emailing with Melissa Urban as she and Dallas are cutting through our neck of the woods to do a gig in Kelowna. They have time to do an evening session if we're interested... takers?
I'm in for an evening session, any idea when?
ReplyDeleteSolo
They're free June 24th - next Thursday. Not a ton of time but I've sent the info to Chris - we only need 20 guaranteed ($75 a pop) - and there are folks from other boxes around who would be interested.
ReplyDeleteNice job Tanya! I am in for the 24th...
ReplyDeleteJenny
Tanya, I'd probably be in for the 24th too if you guys don't mind someone from CFV attending.
